Autocirc is now taking the next step to increase the reuse of car parts with the help of AI services. Together with Autonet, Autocirc has developed a solution that makes it easier for repair shops to order used, high-quality original car parts directly in the damage case – an important contribution to the circular transition in the automotive industry.
In April, Autonet, a leading company in services for the automotive industry, launched its Autobeg service, which uses AI and image analysis to identify damaged parts on a vehicle and search for corresponding used alternatives on the market. The service has now been further developed in close collaboration with Autocirc. The aim is to jointly solve a recurring challenge in the industry; despite many workshops wanting to offer used parts, they are hindered by difficulties in finding the right parts and complicated ordering processes.
"Our customer LF Västernorrland states that today they find the right used spare part in only 15-20 per cent of damage cases. With Autobeg, we have shown that it is possible to reach up to 80 percent, thanks to our AI telling us what needs to be replaced, searching the entire market and identifying parts based on both current and historical item numbers. Through our collaboration with Autocirc, we can realise a large part of that potential – we gain access to more and better parts and make the entire ordering process significantly easier. Together, we make it easier for our customers to at least double their use of used parts," comments Torsten Östervall, CEO of Autonet.
The new solution means that when a claim is assessed in Autonet's AI-based system, a note is sent to Autocirc with information about damaged parts, together with a complete search result from available spare parts databases. When the workshop opens the case, the parts are already prepared for ordering – a step that saves a huge amount of time, according to Autonet.
"Many workshops want to offer reused parts. That's why we see enormous value in combining our strengths – Autonet has the technology to identify the right parts, and we have the ecosystem to deliver them. Together, we can significantly increase the rate of reuse of used parts, thereby reducing the climate emissions generated by newly manufactured parts. This is an important contribution to a more circular automotive industry," comments Marcus Wigren, Country Manager Sweden at Autocirc.
