In 2022, Autocirc's organization was developed with country managers in Sweden, Finland and Norway. With a solid CV and long experience of building and developing businesses, Marcus Wigren joined us in June that year and has been working to support our Swedish companies ever since. We called Marcus to find out more about him and his role as Country Manager.
Tell us about yourself and your work.
I'm a farmer's son from Linköping who studied economics in Halmstad. I stayed on the west coast and worked in various roles in logistics and freight forwarding for a number of years before moving home to Linköping where I got a job at Väderstad. A fantastic family business where I worked as European Sales Manager with responsibility for supporting and developing our subsidiaries in Europe. In 2014 I moved to Gothenburg to run two consulting and recruitment companies. After they were sold in 2018, I started at the software group Progrits. Several of the companies worked with data in automotive, and that's how I first came into contact with Autocirc.
Since June 2022, I have been working as Country Manager at Autocirc to support our Swedish companies so that they get the help they need to continue to develop.
What is a typical day at work like?
There is no such thing as a typical day. The work is very varied and can include everything from being a sounding board for our companies on personnel issues to evaluating potential business opportunities or contributing to the projects we run to achieve our vision of circularity in the automotive industry. We truly cherish the entrepreneurial spirit of the companies we acquire and work on a decentralized model. But when needed, we will provide support to develop the business, where I can also contribute with an outside perspective that provides new angles. My work to help the companies includes everything from sharing examples that can serve as guidance to finding synergies that make us stronger together.
What attracted you to join Autocirc?
The combination of continuing to develop companies and the fact that Autocirc has such a clear purpose to transform an industry and lead the way to a circular future. Sustainability is our DNA, and that's a piece of the puzzle I had been missing for a long time in my previous jobs. People also play an important role. I primarily met Johan Livered (CEO), Jennica Thorin (Deputy CEO) and Mattias Pettersson (Acquisition Manager) and got a very good impression. Later, it also became clear that they have really managed to get good people in and created a competent and driven organization.
What do you do when you're not working?
I like to spend time with my family - especially since I travel a lot for work. I've just joined my youngest daughter's soccer team as team manager and coach. I'm also trying to teach her how to play golf. If I succeed, I might be able to play more than 3-4 rounds a year 😊 Besides exercise, I like to do things that you can see a tangible result of, such as projects in the house or garden.
